foxkidd44 OP trapper Joined: Jun 2007 Illinois	Guys,, I have an old long spring that has the rivet holding the pan on the cross frame… it’s extremely sloppy,, I was just going to drill it out and just put a brass bolt and nut in it after I drilled out the rivet… I saw drill bits for sale in various trapping supply shops,, but they just give a # 10 ( trying to remember as best as I can from memory) or something instead of like a 1/8 or 1/16 … what size bits are usually used when using the brass bolts and nuts? GREENCOUNTYPETE trapper G Joined: Sep 2013 Green County Wisconsin	there are 4 types of drill sizes maybe more fractional inch 1/4 , 3/8 . 3/16 ect number like #10 Letter Like F this is the drill for a 1/4-20 thread and metric here is a list so you can match the closes size https://www.newmantools.com/decinch.htm America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Mortz trapper M Joined: May 2021 Illinois	3/16” works great for # 10 bolts. The size they want to sell you in the catalogs is too small but they always want to sell you that size. They sell # 14 but it’s too small.

I don’t have any drill bits that are that small so I didn’t want to have to go out and buy a bunch of different sizes.. especially drilling it to big and then winding up with a bigger problem.
