I wonder what the electrical was. Probably a single 110 circuit, consisting of one light and a couple outlets?

Great photo, one often forgets how people lived prior to our modern life. Someday people will look at us and wow!

1946 was reasonably modern. Not the computer age but nuclear weapons had already been dropped to end WW2, the internal combustion engine was powering tractors, trucks, tanks, etc. Electricity was available to the masses. These were folks living a tough life.

Pretty nice digs for working folk in the rural South in the 40's and 50's. Probably a light in each room and a plug in most of them. If they were doing well, probably a radio.

Whenever I see most of the photos, they are really sad. I feel like life is a struggle for most of them. We sure don't have anything to complain about in comparison. We are spoiled.

It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.

There are two chimney's. One must be for the cook stove and the other for heating.

Yes, the one in the middle is for the wood cook stove and the big one is at the end is for the fireplace where most of the heat and most of the wood goes up and out in smoke.

I started life in a home that had a single light bulb hanging on a wire from the ceiling, and a pull cord to operate the light. Sometimes we used a screw-in device in front of the bulb, to provide a plug for a fan.
