Yes I’m in northwest PA. Just didn’t have any clips from the snow. We had a very mild winter last year and didn’t have much snow running.

He turned 2 in April. No he’s my best dog.

I got a 8 month old Oakhill bluetick. She is starting to run. My problem is there are not many rabbits at the house. I may get some redbacks to help train her with.

I understand. I raise and train coon hounds and used to have beagles too. I’d like to get back into beagles. If he comes up for sale, let me know.

I am not fond of running beagles with snow on. Dogs can drive a track much better on bare ground.

Unless you have snow five months out of the year that coincide with rabbit season…then you might want to consider how they can work a snow track.

Good beagles can run rabbits in snow, no doubt. But they’ll push a track way faster on bare ground.
We get snow, but not like we used to.
Every beagle guy has a different opinion on what they want in a dog. I’ve got friends that wouldn’t have my dogs, and I wouldn’t waste a .22 shell on theirs. A slow, methodical beagle drives me insane. I want a fast track dog that hunts cover well and is a good jump dog.

Not fond of running in the snow either. Don't like wading thru it and my dogs show me plenty of rabbits without it.

My favorite off season running is standing bean fields. You can follow the whole race by watching the beans part as the dogs run thru the field. Also love when the rabbits want to run in the timber. The beagles can really made them woods ring with music.
