I got 2 skunks last year, extracted the essence but couldn't get a seal on the bottle. It stunk real bad so I thru it in the woods about 50 yards from my skinning shed. Today, I'm mowing the grass and something retrieved the jar and what was left of the essence and put in the road. Would a coyote or bobcat do that? I really need to figure out how to seal the bottles too because this year it seems there are skunks everywhere.

Hummm, what would be attracted to that stuff.....LOL. Hammer them skunks and collect the quill. That stuffs gold. Don't tincture it either. I could've bought some in Sioux Falls but figured I'd wait until Saturday, then another big time lure maker bought the stuff and wouldn't part with an ounce.
Don't get any on the bottle when collecting. Electrical tape around the lid and put that in a container with cat litter that's also taped shut. Worked pretty good for the stuff I ordered.
Don't get any on the little bottle that you're putting it in, and try not to get even one drop on the exterior of the GLASS bottle that you're putting the stuff into.
I hate repeating myself, but keep the outside of the bottle free of quill.

U ain't sealing that smell in a bottle. Put down ur purse and go get those bottles and put them back in the trapping shed. If I mail skunky stuff a vacuum sealer will hold the odor in. My mail ladies were awful happy when I bought one.

I haven’t ordered anything skunky yet where my UPS driver hasn’t threatened my life, lol. I don’t care how it’s sealed, it still smells. I don’t smell it like I used to, but apparently my family and neighbors all have a great sense of smell and compliment my old truck daily.

Vacuum sealer will seal it. I've had guys take skunky products home with them in the cab with their wife in her vehicle. If it smelled it wouldn't have worked.

Dip the top and cap in wax.

I just jarred up 8 ounces for sale today in a 4 ounce and two 1 ounce glass lure bottles. I waxed the caps twice and put them in a plastic container filled with kitty litter. My wife came home from shopping and could smell some essence, lol. Can't get anything by her but she's a big fan of me keeping the skunks.

just being around an open bottle of the stuff is enough to get you skunked. One of the best things for storing skunk without smell escaping is ammo cans or coolers with good seals.

Black tape helps, works pretty good on skunky lures until the first time it is unwrapped, after that you really need to replace the tape if you want to hold it in. But for pure essence, dip the lids in wax, then vacuum seal it. If you just vacuum seal it without the wax it will keep the smell in for a few months but eventually it will seep through the plastic, not so I can smell it when I walk in the room, but I can if I lift the vacuum bag up to my face, and other people claim they can smell it. I got Gusto shipped to me a couple times in some ziploc foil bags, that seemed to hold in the scent, except those bags are fairly fragile and if handled much and crinkled around they will develop pinholes, and the slightest pinhole lets the scent out.

I'm nose blind to skunk essent. Comes in handy unless I have to go uptown and don't realize I stink.

If you pull the pods out and freeze them its not a good idea to thaw them in the microwave either, makes the wife mad!

Did melt some limburger cheese once in the microwave to help it mix into a bait I was developing. I WONT do that again. The whole house stunk.
