So every year, my uncle and I put out some foothold boxes for fisher using deer scraps for bait. The issue we run into is after a week or so, the chunks of deer meat really start to dry out bad as they are out of the elements inside the box. Any ideas of anything I can do to out deer scraps to keep them from drying out? I know grinding and mixing in some glycerine would help, but would prefer to stay with bigger chinks for simple ease of baiting, and we don't mind if it paints a bit while it's out and gets some extra smell

Squirt a little fish oil on it before it dries out.
I usually just change the bait out once it gets dry.

Use beaver instead. The fats and oils in beaver make it so it takes longer to dry/freeze than other meats. Most popular bait used for Fisher and marten in Maine.

I've used raw eggs as moisturizer before. No experience with fisher though.

That may work, I may give that a try, thanks for the idea!

If I could find some beavers to trap around here I definitely would! But it's been years since I've seen any beaver sign in any of the places we trap, not a very large population in my area
