Any of you have experience getting a lone boar? The Gov funded guy is going to bait it with fermented corn buried in a hole he drills with a post hole auger. I’ve got this thing possibly twice on camera, it’s hard to get a good pic. With bear and deer attracted to the buried bait, I think it’ll be a stroke of luck to shoot him. The corral traps won’t be used because they’ve caught a few bear cubs in the past and don’t want to deal with that situation. I’m thinking the best chance is finding where he hangs out in the middle of winter because he’ll be closer to a food source, there’s dairy, industrial hog barns and some big corn fields near them.
Any thoughts?

big round hay bales lined up = they bury inside and never leave at -30c
remember they do travel 30 miles overnight as some of the gps collars have shown.

Yea. Right now it’ll take a stroke of luck to shoot it. In summer they’re always around water for cooling so the creeks and swamps are areas to look at. I have to talk to Bob at the Steinbach office about sitting at a bait with a 338 during bow season, just to make sure I cover my bases. I’ve got the permit from Squeal On Pigs, but it is open season on them. An used big game license may be required. I think he wanders through our area when he’s bored. Probably hangs out miles away closer to farms and fields.

they are digging cattail roots as the winter starch is in them right now
when they get into a corn field the dump piles are noted different from the bear's rake the stalks into one place and dine-out, and a bears wheelbarrow dump pile
small feature help que into them

Dave was saying that too. Tracks will look like a big buck but if there’s enough to tell, the gait is sometimes different.
