Swamp Wolf I’ve got a buddy that lived on the NC coast and says those bear do not hibernate. You being further south , do you see the same thing with active bears year round ?

That is correct. They don't hibernate, but they do go into a state of torpor (lethargy) in winter here. Laying up in bigger swamps and larger tracts of roadless timber where they have less chance of being disturbed. On warmer days, they may move around a bit, but usually from late December to late March...bears "vanish" down here.

Occasionally, I see bear sign on into January, but it's rare. And, by the full moon in April...they are all active again.

Yep...that's why those yearling males leave their momma as yearlings and look for a new area...one without a mature boar.

One with clean antlers finally came by the camera tonight.

3 horned elk. Had a 3 horned one 2 years ago also bigger than this one.

A boar and a yearling. It's rough out there for them.

Going to be a tough decision in 2 weeks when deer bow opens if I haven't filled my bear tag yet if this guys keeps showing up during the day.

Got the Ruger .300 synced with the AGM Rattler thermal scope this morning.

Gonna be bush-hogging roads and access trails for next 2 days...but a couple hogs might bite the bullet(s).

What exactly am I looking at? Just a plastic bag? Wind maybe? Can’t come up with a scenario where this might happen, lol.

It's actually a 6 foot long plastic bag that net wrap for a round baler comes in. Not sure how it happened. In pics it looks to me like his antler might actually be stuck through the bag. I bet it was wild there for awhile

From my back yard. I have a simple gravity deer feeder out of PVC filled with corn. Also a bit of corn dumped on ground in front of the camera too.
Way more fun than a little bird feeder.

This wasn’t from this year, but a few years back we had one heck of a buck fight in our back yard at the corn pile.
