I didn’t say there were never logging truck accidents, just said it is not any different than hauling any freight. You are correct on poor logging road conditions, I’ve seen plenty of bad roads, sometimes a skidder pulling on the front and one pushing on the back to get to hard road. But, usually you are not driving to fast on the poor logging roads. Now the North Maine Woods roads and logging roads I’ve seen in Ontario, Canada is a different story. Those guys drive like maniacs on those roads. LOL.

I was going to say, before reading your last two sentences, you haven't been on logging roads around here. They all drive like they are being paid by the load, even though way less than half of them are. I think the roads and conditions they are driving in is what makes it 'dangerous', still one of the safest jobs in the logging industry. So none of us consider it a dangerous job, but it is probably more so than driving a freightliner on the interstate.

And yeah I've seen twice where a load has come loose and the logs took the cab off. Lost a relative before I was born to that scenario, I remember my dad telling the story about it.

Local company just let go 35 because it is cheaper to contract the loads than haul them with their own equipment. How is that possible?

I passed two big rigs in a row on I 75 and I thought by looking at the drivers I was in another country. Let’s just leave it at that…..

I just got a quote to haul a 6750 pound skid 450 miles and it was $2500. $5,50 a mile, it is down to nothing. Not. To me that is a joke.
