Wow, didn't even notice that.
I just looked at a 1962 team picture and counted 9 black players.

This pic brought back some memories. Family had small mink farm in SE Wisconsin. Early 60s Mom and Dad decided to have some mink stoles and jackets made to sell locally. They had some made by Phil Feinberg in New York and Schlamps in Minneapolis. I believe they sold the stoles for $325.00. Anyhow my dad was a Millwright at AMC and was a casual aquaintance of Ray Nitschke's brother inlaw who worked their also. He told my dad that Ray said he would buy a stole if they won the championship in 62, we were pretty excited thinking we might meet Ray. Well Lombardi bought all the wives fur garments! So our sale never happened. I was 13 at the time and I remember listening to the Packers on the transistor radio while we were feeding mink on Sunday afternoon. Good memories

About 1/3rd of that team in 1962 was made up of black players. With 40 players on the team roster maybe the wives of the black players were not invited or chose not to participate.

Or maybe some portion of the young men on the team were not married so had no wives. Does everything need to be about race?
