No PF, I didn’t miss the point, There is a big difference in controlling an atv, utv, or tractor compared to a vehicle. Age or experience doesn’t relate to good driving skills, some people no matter their age or experience are horrible drivers. Also most states require you to be 16 to operate an atv on the highway legally. If an accident happens with an atv, tractor etc on a state highway I’m betting if that person is under 16 they are in trouble. Eric

I know I sometimes just want my kids to please. stop. talking. and telling them to STFU is not really good parenting. So we improvise.

And the kids drive vehicles also. And experience matters. And I never said on a hwy. But not a thing that can be done when a kid is running a tractor for the farm and nothing will be said about a kid driving a truck down the road from field to the barn in most rual areas.Yes some people stink driving and always will but generally in everything in life you improve with experience. Your going g to be better and more efficient doing any task your 100th time than your first and better yet on your 10000 th.


White is that a recent change becuse when my daughter was working on her pilots license there were kids in the flight club geting theirs before they could drive and it was something they found amusing I'm the flight club.

If he's on a farm, we may have a different issue. My kids start driving my farm trucks early to help me. But they are my trucks. By the time they're 16, one of them just becomes "their" truck.

But it's a fair deal. I'm old school and work them like Egyptian slaves. Driving to do X for dad is part of the job.

You can take lessons WITHOUT having a Student Pilot Certificate. You can't SOLO until you have a Student Pilot Certificate. You cant get a Student Pilot Certificate until you are 16. And you can't actually take your final check ride to get your PPL until you are 17

Well maybe it was something to do with the new driving ruled having wait x months after they get their permit or licens before they could drive with other kids in the car or something so technically they could fly before they could drive? Who knows.

I wish she didn't loose interest when she was healing up for around a year when her arm was lame from nerve damage from her injury. By the time she healed up ( was not though to be likely to get a full recovery) she had switched gears and decided on nursing. She would have had her private and instructor licens at a very reduced cost thanks to the flight club. Then all the rest would still be very expensive but I think she would make more and have more freedom flying commercial then nursing at least after rshe had been doing it 10 years.

Yes. 18 is the minimum for a commercial license. But you are not likely to see many of those simply because no one will hire a pilot with so few hours. Only 250 hours are required for a commercial license. That may be reduced to 190 hours depending on where you train.

A minnow trapping buddy of mine in Canada has a few outposts camps as well. He has a young kid flying for him on the minnow side and hauling supplies, no people. Kid has his float endorsement but is trying to get his hours up. He’s 20ish, I thought he might be waiting for an age deal too but it’s probably just hours. I’m sure rules are different in Canada also.

For the record, I wouldn’t put my kids in a plane with him but I’d probably go. lol

A month ago he was begging for coon traps so he could catch them by the hundreds and had hired a skinner now he's selling his coon traps because he has zero intrest in trapping them. I don't think he can even tell what is truth and was isnt.

That's what I thought would be a good thing foe my daughter to get her instructor requirements nailed down so she could get pa8d to build up hour. I was looming at small 152 Cessnas thinking she could us it to teach in. But adding all the matanance, inspections, hanger or storage cost adds up. I still think it could have made a small profit or broke even and got her hours buit up than she could have sold it.. it's building Hours on the bigger Plaind that get expensive.

I bought my first car when I was 14. A 63' Fairlane 500. Fixed it up for almost 2 years till I could drive it on the road. Ole' man was all (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) off saying it was just in the way. I was chomping at the bit just waiting for the day! Think I paid $250 for it. Straight 6 with a 3-on-the-tree.
