I see lots of Red Oak dropping acorns. They all look small. Lots of other fruit but it all looks very weak on trees and shrubs. To much rain? It might make for a good MN bear season.

Great stuff Bernie! I was in MN in 07 and 09 bear hunting with a friend from Deer River. What a great time it was! I always said after that if I lived where there was bears I’d definitely be baiting or hunting them.

Im not having near the action Bernie is. In fact, this is the slowest start to a bear baiting season I've had in at least 20 years. Im hunting the same area Ive hunted for over forty years, so I know im in a great area, just for some reason its been really slow getting going. All my baits are hit, but its taken days instead of hours for the bears to find my baits and their not eating much. Theres lots of natural foods in my area though, and theres been very little wind every day to draw bears from any distance.

The wind has definitely been an issue, what little there is has been from one direction for days. The humidity helps, but some baits just sit there. I had a couple that sat for a week, then suddenly they have 3-4 bears on them within a few hours.

Our baits have exploded. They are hungry.

Good luck at bear camp.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

I do six hunters a week for two weeks. Plus this year I have a friend who is battling cancer who has a tag, I'll take him the second week.
