went out to do a little shooting at the farm today

house has AC , truck has AC , 80-85 and around 80+% humidity this morning at 8 am

pull gun from case in truck , instantly covered in condensation , 4 optics all useless until left in the sun for while to warm up

you could wipe them and in seconds fogged over again.

shot the 3 iron sighted pistols until the guns with optics had warmed up

it is always the extreme weather or shifts , things like that that are what causes issues or challenges.
how we deal with those challenges and the solutions we find.

it is actually a fairly realistic situation , that I am in the truck with the AC on and want to get out and shoot something , I had it happen with a skunk this year , then it was also raining , scope fogged right up. about 3 seconds out of the truck.

I had the AC blasting in my truck yesterday, stepped outside into 90 degrees and humid and my glasses fogged right up!

well my 10/22 with scope had been my skunk insurance , I like to shoot a specific spot and I am by no means any sort of skunk expert , just where I haven't had spray and am far enough away that if it did I wouldn't get hit.
it runs a 2-7 optic on that gun usually on 2x
pulled into the farm to see racoons running across the yard it makes it easy to plug them

raccoon 100 yards out in the pasture I can get it also.

so yes

the day I got the raccoons running across the yard I had just been thinking why do I keep dragging this rifle with every morning I only used my wrangler up to that point. then I was glad I had.

I don't leave guns in vehicles any more so they get carried in and set by the back door every time

I can still see well enough that when that happens I slide them down my face and look over them often if I am walking into a place with AC they will stay fogged till I am a few yards into the the building then they clear.

I have Butler Creek blizzard lens caps front and back on my most used firearms.
FogX is a fantastic product.

Need a like button for this!!! Iron sights for me as well for these situations, but if longer range is needed a firearm with optics is usually close at hand. wink

2 of the guns had the butler creek caps

I would be curios if fogX could make any difference

the gun was cold so as soon as it hit the warm moist air bam every part of the gun was sweating , you could wipe the lenses with a cleaning cloth and immediately covered in condensation again.

all but one of my handguns have irons , that one is a 22lr with a red dot cool to be able to go about 9 of 10 at 100 yards on a steel plate or just hammer the heck out of squirrel size targets at 50 feet
I have an iron sighted version as well

I have a number of iron sighted rifles ,I shoot irons well

but it is hard to argue with the advantage good optics give you in speed , range and confidence on target and in some cases target ID and confirmation.
