Plenty of good country music out there, just not on the radio. Radio stations are in the radio business, not the music business. Radio is about selling advertisements, not playing good music

In the 80's and 90's big money was being made so the rock programmer's moved to Nashville and started turning country into the type music they liked which wasn't country. Then barf brooks showed up and the rest is history.

The only thing outlaw in Nashville now is playing actual country music! Like most of the rest of the country its dead and gone, covered up and never coming back.

Sturgill Simpson, Cody Jinks, Turnpike Troubadors, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall. There’s still some good country music out there. Won’t hear it on the radio though.

Stopped listening to country stations years ago. Look up Charlie Crockett though......

The majority is about appearance anymore, not ability. Sound boards and engineers can make pretty much anybody sound good. Take in point the chick that slaughtered the national anthem at the MLB All-Star game this year. We had a 5 year old sing the national anthem at a local rodeo this weekend and she sounded way better than that hack.

Grew up listening to waylon,willie,cash,twitty. Ect. That's what my dad played on the radio. I HATED it!
Now, 50 years later, I dig it. Good stuff.

For me the music went south in about the mid 1970s and have not recovered and some are much worse in my opinion. I really appreciated the fact that I can still find and listen to the late 50s, 60s and early 70s and that for me was accross most types, rock, folk, pop, jazz and blues.
