How come no one talks about them? Anyone use 3/16 for their coyote sets? I’ve used mighty hooks in the past but these seem to be way superior. Let me know y’all’s pros and cons.

I use them. A pain to get peened but they hold up to a puller. This is with superstakes. They don't fit well on wolf fangs.

Lap links here with a touch of weld, (trust issues) and a bolt cutter. LOL A good squeeze with 2 stakes pushed opposite ways closes them well if it’s a temporary thing.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Hammer it shut by threading the eye. Then peen the end sticking out the eye so that it can't be opened back up.

They work well, I've went to using them with a spot weld rather than welded S hooks on my wolf traps. I can break S hooks with a puller if I can't pull an earth anchor (they break hard, except a couple I've had where apparently the weld weakened them) but I can't break a cold shut. I've used them to lengthen and or fix tire chains and never welded them on tire chains. Never broke one or opened one on a set of tire chains and I've broke the chain link attached to them. Always used to have a few in the truck to fix chains with, any more I mostly use quick links, just in a larger size, because in the same diameter a cold shut is stronger.
