Have to admit that I have had a few. One of the memorable ones was back in the days of Party Permits for deer here in Wisconsin. We had a deer camp near Babcock which was a huge Army barracks tent with 3 wood stoves in it. There was about a dozen of us who spent varying lengths of time through the whole season. Quite the place!

I was in a hurry to get out of La Crosse and get back out there and was heading east on I-90. I came up on a line of about 5 cars all going the exact speed limit, which slowed me down. Stayed behind them for a few miles then came to the realization that the speed limit did not really apply to me anyway because I was heading to deer camp, and I pulled out and passed the whole line. Just got past the lead car when the front of a plain , unmarked squad lit up and he pulled me over. He came up to the window and I looked at him with a desperate face and said "Officer, I know I am speeding but I have to meet a guy at deer camp or I am going to lose out on a Party Permit. He's leaving and has the permit with him." He gave me kind of a funny look and went back to the squad, I assumed to write me a dreaded ticket that I would not be able to afford to pay as things were tight then.

I guess I got lucky and was pulled over by a trooper who also knew what it was like to have a Party Permit and a deer camp back then because he gave me a Warning and said "I know it's deer season but if you come through here this fast again you are getting a ticket." Headed out to camp for the rest of the season, and got to fill the Party Permit with a big doe.

But I certainly have deserved some in those past 30 years.

I am pretty sure that describes me as well! LOL My wife says I am one lucky SOB and I am just good at talking my way out of them. Honestly I feel like 95% of the time if you arent committing an outrageous violation, and act respectful to the officer you are only going to get a warning. In this day and age the speed limit is only a "recommendation".

Wow I have been real luck most of the time. A buddy was driving my truck in Quebec 20 years ago and was pulled over for doing 117 the officer says, in decent English, limit is 90, 100 is ok but 117 no good. He went back to his vehicle and drove off. We all thought that he was going to write us up, but he left. Another time up there on Route 117 a different buddy had a new ford with their great300 six engine and I said bill how fast do you thing this can go. Well that ticket was for 170k (110 mph), and cost $75 = cheap. In NY several time let off for doing 70+ in 55 or slower, once a different buddy driving my truck was pulled over doing 68 through a school zone on the road from Lamoka to savona. He was a fisherman and wanted to know how we caught the fish we had. We had fished all night and he let us go. Many more occasions like that. Now in NJ got a ticket for not haveing a seat belt on as we were driving along picking up aluminum cans at 5 in the morning. the list goes on......jk

^^^^^^^^

That's why I didn't brag about my record. Not hard to avoid tickets when you have no roads, no rules and no cops. smile

Last ticket was in '88. Here's a tip; become an organ donor, they put a little red heart on your license. However, on the west coast (Washington anyway) the State troopers for the most part have stopped giving tickets for minor infractions like moderate speeding, expired tabs, etc..
