I have 2 dogs and yesterday I was seeing how they react to my lures.

2 beagles.

coyote frenzy, cryptic, lady luck coyote gland matrix, Carman's coyote gland. and all other yote glands they gave a sniff and like snorted kinda.

pros choice they would drink the whole bottle if they could.

(This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) fire was to strong

they like Hiawatha valley pred bait.

I had some liquid pred bait that they would roll in. they urinate on Fox urine but not coyote.

sooo

what's it mean if they lick some lures and only some baits and roll in some lures/baits?

Doesn’t really mean much of anything as far as the lure or baits effectiveness. If they lick or roll in it they came up to it which if trap was placed properly by them they would have got caught before the lick or the roll started. Some dogs eat deer crap and some walk right by it. How a house pet reacts to something really shows nothing related to how a wild k9 would react to something.

Also wouldn’t let your dogs lick or eat any trapping baits or lures unless you don’t mind them getting sick some nasty stuff and chemicals in some of them things not good for a pup.

Different lures side different reactions. Some lures can get multiple reactions, sometimes different ones depending on the time of year. They boil down to eat it, fight it, wear it, destroy it, or mate it.

Will say the ones that cause rolling, you better pay attention in handling the lure lure so it doesn't get anywhere near your trap beds preferably keep those lures at shoulder height to the critters so they rub instead of roll

I think it benefited me to observe what my dog found interesting on the trapline, but I never did a lure test. I often set dirt holes in areas where my dog was attracted to game smells or creek crossings.

If your dogs dont like your "coyote urine" it most likely isn't

I've done a lot of testing of lure on coyotes and also tested everything on our dogs. Dogs are a starting point. Some dogs are excited about everything and some it takes a bit more to impress them. Takes experience of see what your dogs reaction is compared to a coyotes. After some comparisons you can get an idea of how worth while your dog is at pointing u in the right direction. Dog we got now is worthless as far as testing. He gets excited about even poor formulations. Though their are some I've bought that barely get a reaction from him. Even a good dog is just the starting point though. My previous dog was pretty decent, if she got excited about it, it was at least good enough to try.

As far as the different reactions and what they mean, I'll let u learn that yourself and you'll be better for it.

I've tested rub sets at shoulder height for coyotes and wasn't impressed with their reactions to it. Seemed a strong odor at that height kind of spooked them enough they didn't want to get too close. I've had better luck putting it in a deep hole. Using less of an odor that want to roll on helps a bit too.

Any K-9 will be fascinated by a NEW smell.

Hasn't been my experience testing lures and baits, even on dogs which are easier fascinated than coyotes

If they really like to lick and eat it , put it on a 3/4” piece of pipe and drive it in the ground. Now watch where they put their feet as they try and get it out of the pipe. You should have a lightbulb going off about where to place a trap. If not maybe you should take up cards or bingo or.......

Ok

I never caught a fox or coyote. Mostly because I would never set on sign. Now I have a trail cam set where there's coyotes every night. Even 2 at once!

I once caught my dog in a dirthole. And that's even when I was still a sucky trapper. Now I know what I'm doing. Know tricks bedding techniques and etc. Just have to set on sign.

If I could catch him I could probably catch a coyote because there from the same family. Coyote are just more cautious
