Has anyone here on T-Man had this done.? It's looks like I'm going to need to have it done at some time in the near future (both shoulders). The cartilage is gone in both joints and I have a very limited range of motion and a lot of pain!

Any input would be appreciated!

my dad had it done maybe 5-6 years ago , it took a long time to heal but it is much more usable now.

I'll tell you after September 18th, when I have shoulder replacement surgery.
.....I'm ready. Tired of the pain, I could bite the butt end of a snake most days !

Yes both shoulders. Both in 2007. 6 mo apart. Had to quit truck driving.Shifting was painful.
Just the ball part though. Felt great to be able to be active again. I've some limited motion above my head.
Can't remember much about recovery but it was worth it.

I have two friends who have had both shoulders replaced and both have experienced pleasing results.

I have had five rotator cuff repair surgeries over 30 years, and I still have pain on both sides, but never both at the same tiime. My problems are just the tendons.

I had a consultation on it, Doc said you'll still have limited motion, won't, or shouldn't lift anything heavy, and avoid recoil from shooting....but your pain SHOULD be gone.....should.....

Long rehab time too., My brother in law is a orthopaedic surgeon in Minn., he does replacements regularly, told me to avoid shoulder replacement unless you can't stand the pain anymore.

Like everything else, YMMV....

I had a reverse shoulder replacement on my right shoulder in January of 2023. It was in pretty bad shape .Labrum and rotator cuff both had complete tears. No more pain but I can't put my right hand on top of my head. It takes both hands to comb my hair. Again, no pain but I'm not getting my left one done because I'd rather have the pain instead of a lot of less range of motion.

I would take a serious look at prolo therapy before I let anyone cut on me.

I had it done two years ago. No complaints. Some discomfort after surgery. but no harsh pain. Before surgery, I could barely move my arm above parallel to the floor. Now I can lift it above my head with no pain. My flexibility is about 80% now. It will never get to 100%. The recovery period is long. I did physical therapy for 4 months. You could probably get by on 2 months but I wanted to get the most out of it for good results. Don’t neglect the physical therapy. Follow the instructions to the T. I forgot to mention, I can hit a punching bag hard with the surgical arm with no pain. However, I don’t make a habit of it for precaution sake. The doc told me to let pain be the guide as to what I can do or not do. Make sure you get advice from your Doc as to your limitations.

One replaced 9 yrs ago. The other 2 years ago. Probably 80-90% range of motion. I do pretty much what I want. Doing your physical therapy, especially in the beginning, is a must. As stated earlier, take it easy at first and do more as you get stronger
