Anybody know what happened to it? I checked back seven pages and it just went proof somewhere in there. I had some more information for Crowfoot in regarding edibility. my neighbor across the street claims to have eaten them many times, even describes the cleaning process involving removing the head then offset 10 snips, cutting down the back of the fish and skin in the hide down to allow access to the backstrap on a fish for 5 feet long. The backstrap are about the same size as comes off of a deer. He then cuts into cubes, soaks In saltwater for a couple of hours, then batters and fries just like catfish. He claims the flavor is very similar to pork.

I had alligator gar in Louisiana. I like it. Long nose gar here in KS are good too. Have to trim off all the dark stuff. Clean them the same way as described above.
