The Texas Quote of the Day:
"He [Stevie Ray Vaughan] and another fella came and talked to me and I said 'What's it like, playing clean, you know, without drinking and doing drugs?' And Stevie said that once he got sober, after about six months, it was like he took off the boxing gloves and could REALLY play guitar. And I said 'No, man, you could really play before you got sober.' And Stevie said "No, all of the sudden I could play with every part of me, with nothing blocking between me and the guitar.' And I've always remembered that. It just really stuck with me. And it always meant a great deal to me."
---Ray Wylie Hubbard on how Stevie Ray Vaughan helped him get sober after decades of living the archetypal musician's life

I don't know Hubbard, but Stevie could pick some strings!

Act like a blank, get treated like a blank. Insert your own blank!

He was alright but he should have learned more than just first position pentatonics.

This is still the best video I know of to show his talent up close. If he was drink or sober in this one, it is still absolutely fascinating that a human can play like this. A true lost treasure. Start watching at 1:10.

How many lies will people believe before they realize their own idiocy?

Noise! Just obnoxious noise. Might be useful in scaring birds or varmints away. Cowboy hat, so I guess it is classified "country". ,Country is dead.

I was lucky to see him play twice - once in Green Bay when he was starting out at a club and the last time was his final show at Alpine Valley when his helicopter crashed. Both concerts were absolutely electric.
