I have some Fleming 1.5s and I’m scared that they won’t hold coon cause some guys said they were not good coon traps. Has annyone had experience with these traps? anyway what is the best reliable coon trap that I can find at a convention? I was goin to buy a dozen or two bridger 1.5s but I don’t want to if I don’t have to.

PETA is stupid.

Not sure what the free trap you get from MTP is, but I have like a dozen of those things and have held cats and coyotes in them when setting along a creek for coons. Those are some little bitty traps too, or seem little to me.

Swivel em up, stake well or drown, and don’t give them anything within reach to grab onto and you will hold them just fine. I use a lot of traps that aren’t supposed to be good coon traps and if you do the above you will be just fine.
FYI, I have a ton of #1 longs with the chain moved to opposite end of the spring, and I hold a lot of dryland coon in those.
Jim grin

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

When you order a certain dollar amount on MTP you have the option for a “free” gift. I always choose a trap. I have about a dozen of those traps and use the along creeks for coons. They may be Bridgers, I really haven’t paid attention, but they’re small traps.

I like lots of traps, but I really like #11's for being a reliable coon trap.

Don’t know how big your coons are up in your neck of the woods but I’ve used #1s here and caught 20lb plus coons with no pullouts I’ve caught numerous in 1s and 1 1/2 coils just sayin but who knows just add swivels and anchor where they can’t climb up and you should be fine but that’s just my opinion

Caught scores of coon in #1 Blake & Lamb single long springs, older pan post traps. Moved chain to opposite side of spring added a swivel.
Lightweight super fast to work with when I ran hard.
