No it was not. We did not know that clause.

Pex a and pex b are 2 different diameters. I have never set my hands on pex a pipe. But I have a bunch of worthless pex a fittings that I can't bring myself to throw away.

Thanks 2bit. The pic I posted of the fitting actually isn't the right one, I didn't realize it last night but the pic I posted is for iron pipe, but the ones we had/have look like that but are threaded for PVC not iron pipe. I can't seem to find a pic of the exact one we have... but it's threaded for PVC on the female end and push-to-connect pex on the other. At any rate, we're not using it anyways.

We have Pex b, and we have all the tools.... cutters, crimpers, rings, tape, glue, etc. Just need to find a better fitting and slap her back together.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Learned a lot!

You will never understand plumbing. It is some kind of scam. On just Pex, I have used the plastic rings and expander ( upnor) (hope you don't run into pexB) and for pex B two different crimpers and rings. Hopefully your crimp tool is for the same rings.

Unfortunately, in my life, I have done far too much plumbing. frown

I looked at my post and realized I was not awake enough
They both have the fitting go inside

Moral is, don't post before coffee

I have had several leak and have to be replaced. I use a crimp tool with I think coper ring it crimps. the fitting goes inside the pipe to keep if from smashing it. once I get rid of the sharkbite snap on fittings I no longer have any problems.

this many post I'm sure it's been covered better already. I only read your first post.

PEX b comes in red and blue
Wirsbo PEX A is milky white, most often with an insulated outer shell

Pex B comes in white too. We're currently working with white colored 1" pex... and I'm sure it's B. It's about the same color as PVC, but no insulated shell.

My bad again. I mostly use 1/2" and just haven't seen PEX b in 1/2" white
But I don't even look at anything unless it's blue or white

I’ll let you call my parents and hear how many cuss words my father will say in under a minute when you say shark bite. Lol
After living in a house with copper pipes for over 50 years the had pin hole leaks show up. He redid the entire plumbing in his basement using shark bite fittings. Left one Saturday morning to return to a flood in the basement. Fixed the problem only to have another one come apart 3 days later. Replaced it. Next day same thing. Apparently they had a bad batch of them. I spent one entire day running PVC and GLUING connectors. Problem solved. I’ve seen too many fail since they came out. Always they hard to get to ones that leak

Don't stick your fingers in them if you don't think they hold very well. We use them sometimes at work and we had a kid that was a new hire that stuck both of his fingers in one on each end. Trust me they hold pretty good. He was in tears before we got him released.

Call me old school , but I prefer sweating in a copper fitting over a shark bite any day. Cheaper and lasts way longer.

And yes , I know what the bread is for , been there done that and finally bought some Jet Swets to save on the bread.

I heard a quote years ago ,

" For every pipe you sweat in , you saved $25 "

Needs to be adjusted for inflation a bit , but a very true statement.

Good skill to have.
