just curious, was the fitting wrapped for underground applications? No it was not. We did not know that clause.

Yote trapper, what you need is a PVC male or female iron pipe thread ( fip/ mip) fitting on the end of your PVC. It doesn't matter which, female splits, male snaps. Whichever you prefer. Then a brass fitting of the appropriate gender on the iron pipe thread side and a male pex b on the other. Buy the smallest pack of crimp rings you can, rent a crimp tool from your hardware store. Fix it up and done.
Pex a and pex b are 2 different diameters. I have never set my hands on pex a pipe. But I have a bunch of worthless pex a fittings that I can't bring myself to throw away. Thanks 2bit. The pic I posted of the fitting actually isn't the right one, I didn't realize it last night but the pic I posted is for iron pipe, but the ones we had/have look like that but are threaded for PVC not iron pipe. I can't seem to find a pic of the exact one we have... but it's threaded for PVC on the female end and push-to-connect pex on the other. At any rate, we're not using it anyways. We have Pex b, and we have all the tools.... cutters, crimpers, rings, tape, glue, etc. Just need to find a better fitting and slap her back together. Thanks for all the comments everyone. Learned a lot!

You will never understand plumbing. It is some kind of scam. On just Pex, I have used the plastic rings and expander ( upnor) (hope you don't run into pexB) and for pex B two different crimpers and rings. Hopefully your crimp tool is for the same rings. Unfortunately, in my life, I have done far too much plumbing.

PEX b comes in red and blue Wirsbo PEX A is milky white, most often with an insulated outer shell Pex B comes in white too. We're currently working with white colored 1" pex... and I'm sure it's B. It's about the same color as PVC, but no insulated shell.

I’ll let you call my parents and hear how many cuss words my father will say in under a minute when you say shark bite. Lol After living in a house with copper pipes for over 50 years the had pin hole leaks show up. He redid the entire plumbing in his basement using shark bite fittings. Left one Saturday morning to return to a flood in the basement. Fixed the problem only to have another one come apart 3 days later. Replaced it. Next day same thing. Apparently they had a bad batch of them. I spent one entire day running PVC and GLUING connectors. Problem solved. I’ve seen too many fail since they came out. Always they hard to get to ones that leak You ARE the answer man..... " they (had) a bad bunch or them.., "had " being the key word.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Gone are the days of a loaf of bread , torch , flux and solder. No the bread ain’t for sandwiches! Call me old school , but I prefer sweating in a copper fitting over a shark bite any day. Cheaper and lasts way longer. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/09/full-3135-228801-20240903_220420.jpg) And yes , I know what the bread is for , been there done that and finally bought some Jet Swets to save on the bread.

Cragar looks like my solder bag back in the day ! I heard a quote years ago , " For every pipe you sweat in , you saved $25 " Needs to be adjusted for inflation a bit , but a very true statement. Good skill to have.
