Now the work begins needs to be gutted lol should be a fun project, at least the fishing is good. Made sense to us getting tired of renting cabins all summer and this is our favorite lake. It'll probably take 2 summers to do want we want with the cabin but the kids are going to enjoy it. I'll post some pictures when we close.

Congrats. You will find that it is way more work in the beginning than you planned (and more expensive) but worth it in the end.

Whats the cabin like?
electricity?
running water?
Septic?
All the modern comforts or is life there going to be roughing it?

My Uncle had a cabin on the Pike lake chain, no anything. We had to bring in water and crap in a outhouse.
Once my aunt suggested that my uncle should bring up the lawn mower next time they come up.
He replied "I'll burn the place to the ground before I waste time mowing."

enjoyed many fishing trips out of that cabin.

Yup lol, it's near turtle lake wi. 4 season septic and shared well. Needs alot of work but I think after I call in a few favors it should be manageable if I don't let my wife do any of the planning..... lol so it will most likely be over budget and done way later than I'd like

skimp on floor covering not insulation

you can always floor over painted plywood later.

what kind of foundation ?
seen some very bad coon damage and heard of some real messes with porkies at cabins that don't get a lot of use year round.
depending on the type some things to think about covering in metal

Nice! Don’t pass up a deal you think is good or try to save a million bucks for when you’re 80. Spend it while you’re still able. In 10 years that property will be twice the price.
If it’s right….do what it takes to make it work.

The bitterness of poor quality last a lot longer than the sweetness of low price

Been watching a guy on you-tube that swears by “bubble foil” for floor and skirting insulation. Mainly for rodent control, but keeps things from freezing in his crawl space.

Congratulations! Very nice area with some fantastic fishing.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.
