Keep it between the ditch's! Nice ride. And I'll add to that keep the shiny side up! Take good care of it and it should last awhile.

Nice! I don’t see rust in the usual spots. What’s under the hood? At work we used to have a regular cab like that but it had the 454 and a set of tracks. That thing hauled arse!

Nice truck. Enjoy that Chevy. Looks like a WT package, judging by the tailgate lettering. Crank windows? Shift on the floor 4WD?
Take Pete's advice above and wit will last you a good long while.
If its 2WD, a couple hundred pounds of sand in the back will help out a lot in the winter.

that looks like a very clean looking 99-07
out of state truck or some old guy who hardly drove in the winter ?
if it is clean , fluid film the heck out of it , preserve what you have
the weak points on that year range are , brake lines , trans cooler lines , fuel line and evap line, door handles , the right front quarter panel has a spot that is the first thing to rust out about 12 oclock over the passenger front wheel and rear spring shackles , tail gate hinge hardware
most of those are rust weaknesses rocker panels and cab corners are a place for rust also
other than the door handles if you keep all that from rusting you are golden and a set of door handles is 20 bucks and not hard to change out when you break one.
if you set the blend for the AC all the way to cold and it chirps , it is the blend door stepper motor it doesn't detect it is all the way shut and keeps tryin , click up one notch from the bottom and it stops.
the only real expensive issue I found is the insterment cluster the traces lift up for the speedometer stepper motor , it is a pain and the solder around fix only lasts around 6 months a new cluster is 3-400 and is the same thing , much easier to buy a 30 dollar GPS based speedometer stick it on the dash and plug it in to the cigarette lighter and get back to driving. I have 2 of those now in my 98 and 04
for the fuel and evap lines you can buy bulk poly and ends and make new lines the factory were overly complicated mult part lines that are expensive.
again most of it's weaknesses are rust , keep it coated with fluid film or similar.
I know your correct , but give the poor kid a heart attack:) Still the best generation GM made in modern times

If its 2WD, a couple hundred pounds of sand in the back will help out a lot in the winter. yes the WT look non locking tailgate is often a sign also the 99-07 they got rid of the WT on the tailgate that was there in 98 mine are both WT 2wd I have a 4.3 v6 in the 98 and the 4.8 v8 in the 04 the 98 needs weight she has nothing in the back end to hold those wheels down. the 04 has a topper and a lot of tools in the bed no issue with needing weight. if you build a box that fits in the bed you can use a bunch of the solid cement blocks or pavers and not loos much bed use at all and they stack behind the garage easy for the summer the box is just to keep them from sliding around pressure treated 2x4 will last a lot of years. these blocks are about 30 pound each 4"x8"x16" 7-10 is a good start I thought about one more weakness of basically all chevy/GM automatics , that clip that holds the shift cable on the transmission again it is a rust thing but if you learn where it is you can shut off the truck block the wheels and crawl under it pop it back on and get one more shift out of it to get you into drive and take you home. if you kept it well oiled it might never fail , it is a rust thing. plastic that ages , Rust and regular maintenance are the only things keeping most of these trucks from reaching 300K well every truck out there has sealed wheel hub assemblies to replace , expect those around 150-175 if they haven't already be done , those are like tires they are just going to wear out. nothing is that hard to work on on the WT.

also everything is metric , if you don't own a 18mm because it is skipped in a lot of sets you probably want one
Yep. 10, 13, 15 and 18 will do a lot of the work on these trucks.

I know your correct , but give the poor kid a heart attack:) Still the best generation GM made in modern times yes it is , with a ton of good youtube videos on fixing nearly everything and it is a lot easier to work on than a 3 valve triton like I said none are very expensive , none very hard to do , almost all are rust related so that is why rust protection is so important in WI. if you want a real heart attack say VVT which thank god this doesn't have also they mean 5w30 when they say 5w30 don't let some one tell you because it is a truck over 100K that you need to run a heavier oil , you don't especially not in northern WI 5w30 year round make sure to check it every other tank of gas you might have to add a quart ever 1500 miles that is fairly normal. I change mine as soon as I have time after 3K on occation it has made it 4500
