Do you think mice need to be emptied often to keep the stench of dead mice from scaring other mice away from entering the trap?

I don’t think the smell would affect the mice much. It might affect your client though.

I wouldn’t really consider those and other tin cat types as traps, but as monitors. They’re there to give you an idea of what is happening at a location. They hold a glue board inside and are to be checked fairly frequently. They are typically used in areas that it’s very awkward to trap or apply pesticides in.

If you find yourself catching more than a solitary mouse every once in a while you need to correct the issue with sealing, bait boxes and concentrated trapping to get things back under control.

What situation are you trying to solve? There might be a better trap for you.

Thanks.
I'm trying to catch mice that are trying to get into a garage.
I've had decent success w/ exclusion. Sometimes I think they sneak in when the big door is open.

They most likely are. Bending some trim coil to stop them from squeezing around the edge of the rubber climate seal helps too.

About a month ago I was fixing a garage door and the client saw a mouse run across the top of the door, so they can and do climb them too.

Hard to beat single catch big pan victor mouse traps. Set the walls and corners, shelves etc. I catch most mice in blind trail sets, no bait. In some cases baited traps may be better but once you learn mouse behavior you won't bait much.

Prevention and structural sealing is the way to really make a difference as stated. Trapping will help clean up the local residents.

This is so true. Walls and corners are game changers for mice.

This is the real ticket. Put one in my woodshed. Smeared peanut butter underneath the topside and little dabs on the ladder. Fill five-gallon bucket with water.
I called 9 in a three night span. Actually caught 5 the first night alone.
