?????????? You wouldn't worry about having enough bands , when in the middle of a batch?
I used to buy used jars until I had more than I needed.
There's always a need for bands , lids , and that's why I don't leave bands/rings on.

I have enough bands to keep one on every jar. If I didn't have enough bands, I would just store the jars without them. I think they help minimal!y at best.

During Covid, when people went nuts on canning, in our area, it was cheaper to buy the complete band/lid set than just jar lids. I have more bands than jars and I have a huge number of both.

Thanks for the replies. We have bands so I think I'll clean things up and put them back on. The jars were sealed and we don't want to lose anything more.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

If a seal is broken by bumping the jar, it wasn't sealed well enough in the first place. That ring isn't protecting the seal, it's only hiding a bad seal.

I never leave rings on.
When gifting jams, jellies or pickled anything that needs a lid for the refrigerator, is the only time lids are on.
Have gone camping with plenty of canned goods, and never had a problem with lids coming off just by accidental bumping.
A good seal isn't going to break by just bumping it.
A one time use jar of anything doesn't have a ring on it.

I have never left rings on after processing, so I don't know any of the aspects of doing so.
