About a week ago the bottom of my feet started feeling like they're bruised but they aren't. I'm thinking about padded arch supports or something. Any advice?
Thank you

arch supports keep mine from hurting. Dr Schols is reasonable and work as good as any.

After a full week of 8 hour days on concrete my feet hurt. But I blame it on old age.

I would start by putting a new pair of insoles in whatever shoe you wear the most. Make sure they have arch support, feels weird at first, especially if you have flat feet like I do. However, that typically cures my foot pain like you described within a few days.

does it feel like your standing on and extension cord ,barefoot?

start with freezing a few 0.5L water bottles or similar and roll them on the floor sitting in a chair with your foot

this helps stretch the foot and the cold helps reduce inflammation

then when you can stand on the first stair going up hold onto the rails and with the balls of your feet on the step dip your heal below the step this will stretch out the tendons and muscles in your feet
go back and forth as you can and see if that brings some relief

good supportive shoes help and not walking around barefoot in the house helps

it is a little weird to get up and first thing you do after the toilet is socks and supportive shoes even if yout just going to spend the next hour having coffee and reading

I used to spend 12 hour days on concrete. Hurts your feet and legs.

Tried all kinds of shoes , inserts etc.

Coworker suggested thick socks , said it worked for him.

It does work rather well I can attest. Give it a shot , cheap to try.

If the pain feels like someone hit the bottom of your feet with a baseball bat..

It's plantar Facceitist ( Sp).

Go to foot doctor and get those HAAHD Plastic insoles and some good shoes.

Mine was so bad...I got a cortisone shot....all Bettah

I did put in some arch supports I had laying out in the garage. It's not terrible yet but I want to nip it before it gets bad. Thanks for the replies.

I've got a bad arch in one foot. Naturally high arches but they never bothered me until I hit about forty. Now I need good arch support in my shoes. I buy insoles from Tread Right, they are what they call "semi-custom", they tell you how to measure how much arch you have and then tell you what insole to get for your arch. I've been real happy with the results and wear them in all my shoes except one pair of boots that was built with that much arch support.

And yes, don't walk around barefoot foot or in your sock feet, if you are going to spend any time on your feet, even in the house, put on a pair of shoes with good arch support.
