Brewers getting crushed in SF and it is not even the 3rd. CB Bucknor has the brewers pitchers number. They just can’t figure out his strike zone and end up making lots of mistakes.

Counsel is the worst manager I've seen for the Cubs. Cubs could win this game if he'd taken out the pitcher BEFORE he gives up 7+ in three innings. What an idiot!!!!

Like Yogi Berra said, "It ain't over until it's over". The Cubs tied the game in the 5th.

If by some miracle the Cubs win it will be in spite of Counsel, not because of him. Ross>Counsel

The Cubs were a big help to the Phillies by taking 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers in LA. It is hard to believe the regular season is winding down already. The Phillies only have 16 games left. They have an off day today and then a weekend series with the Mets.

YUup Brewers really got hammered. Maybe they will shake it off and get back to playing better. Lot of division races are getting closer. There will be some strong teams in the wild card section this year.
Astros have been playing very well the 2nd half of the season.

If someone had said we'll give 2 of 3 over the Dodgers before the series started, I'd been happy with that but with pisspoor managing directly costing the Cubs that 3rd game, I'm not too happy.

No good baseball games on tonight. Guess I'll watch the football game instead.

I am not very comfortable with Williams as the closer against playoff caliber teams. 13 of the last 16 games for the Brewers are against playoff teams. The cubs only have 3.

He does make me nervous but still seems to usually get it done. Hopefully the work he is getting in now will help him regain his form after the long layoff.

Brewers rookie became the youngest mlb player to hit 20 hr and steal 20 bases. He joins Mike Trout and Vada Pinson as the only three to do so in their age 20 season. If my memory serves me, I think Trout hit his 20th on his 21st birthday. They shouldn’t be this good at this age. His 8 year and 82 million dollar contract before he ever played a mlb game is looking like a steal. He really has played himself into the rookie of the year conversation.

The brewers bullpen is crazy good and might be one of the best that they ever had. You better get to the starter in 5 innings because runs get awful hard to come by after that. They have a couple big left hander that can go multiple innings. That shortens a game when you pair it with a couple good right handers.

Yes and NL says he'll have a word with them and have them throw them 3 if they don't need them. laugh Right NL?

It seems to me the Cubs always give the Phillies a rough time. I doubt the Phillies will need those games to clinch the division, but they will need them to get the best record so they have home field advantage. You never know, the have 7 games with the Mets, if the Mets would sweep them it could make things interesting. In 1964 the Phillies blew a 6 1/2 game lead with 10 to go.

Thomson left Nola in long enough to give up 6 runs.

The Phillies got blown out last night, I hope they do better today with the rookie pitcher.

D-Backs are 2nd or 35d in the MLB for batting average, but 27th in ERA. Brewers were able to quite the bats with Peralta having a good outing. The Brewers bats have cooled a lot the last month. Their team batting average has gone from 3rd or 4th in the MLB to 11th. A drop of .11 points. There pitching is 3rd best in the MLB for ERA. They need to win the bulk of their series the last games. They don't have to win all their games.

A nice win for the Phillies today. They came back from a 4-zip deficient to beat the Mets 6-4. I hope the Braves beat the Dodgers tonight to give the Phillies another game up for home field advantage in the playoffs. It won't get any easier as they play the Brewers next week at Milwaukee. Bryce probably has the Brewers ready for that 3 game set.

That series with the Phillies could well show us if the young team w/o Yelich can play with the top teams. The Phillies swept the Brewers in Philly their last series.
Good pitching and good D can help offset young hitters who are learning the craft of hitting good pitching. Watching young players develop makes for good but also at times antsy moments. Learning how to win in a low market area with low salaries demands a lot from managers and coaches. Murphy has done a very good job managing the Brewers this year. Hader and Burnes were trades that caused me concern but they got a lot of talent that is playing well now.

Brewers bringing the lumber with Yelich in the booth. Adames hit two hr with one being a grand slam. Off to a fast start and must want to work on that run differential. 12 to 0 through 4.

Yes looking very good tonight. Adames is a free agent at the end of this season. He could get a really good contract.
