I’m sure some of you know him. Is he a pretty good guy? He’s putting on some free wolf courses here put on by the ag sector of the Mb government. I’ll be hitting one up.

I know Jonn personally and he is the real deal. A wolf trapping machine.

besides you will see who else is trapping in your area

John is a good guy and a straight shooter. I have known him for years and even swilled a beer or two with him.

I have nothing clever to put here.

The October ones are in Teulon & Birds Hill but no dates yet. They’re free so I’ll hit at least one up but my October is going to be pretty busy. I’m going to Mulvihill September 28th.
No workshops in the south east, I guess the predation problems are mostly in the interlake. I know a fella near Piney that lost some livestock and they trapped one “big” wolf and it stopped. But they don’t contact DNR or Ag for help.

Kris taught a fellow in that area about summer trails and he has put a licking to several pacs in Mulville area. The 3 old timers that did the hurting on the deprdations are slowing down in their late 80;s now.

Ask him if he thinks it's high time for MN to start managing wolves again.

Was a good time but 4 hours isn’t enough, especially with some experienced wolfers in the crowd asking good questions. First thing, the biologist from Mb Ag gave a description of the Targeted Predator Program which exploded, so Lorne had to get the ball moving and save the TPP questions for after, kinda felt sorry for her. But there’s frustrated ranchers there loosing animals and having difficulty dealing with the issues legally. I was surprised at the turnout, trappers and ranchers alike. Johns the real deal, good guy! Going to the one closer to home October 31 again, should be smoother.

I guess, he was moving pretty fast. He was packing up while the last of us were bombarding questions….lol. Then he saw his calls and got ticked off “ahhhh! I forgot to touch on calling in summer!” So he gave us a few tips. He had an 1.5 hr drive to do another late afternoon workshop.
This was geared towards summer predator removal trapping but a lot of it transfers over to winter. I’m always trying to use the biggest trap I can, but for areas with cattle around, he uses 750s, Bridger #5s or the NO BS coyote extreme or wolf jr. as the bigger ones can hold cattle. I don’t have to worry about that, and the bear are pretty much done by the time I’m laying steel.
His biggest tip was setting on sign, not 20’ away. It’s been mentioned here quite often that the best spot won’t catch a thing if they’re not there…lol.
The wolf is on the move and you want your set right on the trail or dang close.
