On this night, September 10, 2001

246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their next shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift of saving lives and 1 K9 went to bed a good boy 🐾🐾

None of them saw past 10:00 am the next morning Sept 11, 2001. In the blink of an eye, their lives were cut short.

Tonight, as you prepare for bed in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Not forgotten!

23 years ago, time sure flies. But I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. And the emotions are still just as raw.

Everytime I see an older movie/newsclip and the twin towers are shown , my eyes are glued to them.

Hard to describe but true.

I was in the air on a plane from Lincoln to Denver right when that went down. No cell phone, and just waved goodbye to my wife eight months pregnant carrying our son and on my way to help with an accounting issue.
Still have my plane ticket. Incredible event. Landed at Denver and watched people walking from that airport miles from city, walking. With no planes moving, or rentals going in out in normal flow, it was all one way out. Bizzare situation.
I was able to get the very last rental at hertz and I didn’t let it go all week while I was at work. Was my only way home since return flight wasn’t happening.
Drove back to Lincoln later that week and had to listen to hours of Lee greenwood god bless the USA on radio, was either that or news, not many options on radio.
The Mrs got me my first cell phone right after that.
I remember when flights eventually happened again, weeks later, and I had to fly back out. New baby at home and couple of nervous parents not wanting to get back on that plane too badly.
