Hey all, I'm looking to grow my line a bit this year, it's my third year trapping and as much as I love it so far about all I can catch reliably is beaver and racoon despite setting on sign and watching my scent... I figure more traps should equal more success at this point. Problem is I was already working on a pretty tight budget, then I went and decided to go back to school, and while im saving up for some no bs dogproofs (ive found kendalls stuff is worth the money even if i have to save a while to get it) things aren't looking good for growing my line. I'm checking the trap shed out and facebook marketplace but was wondering if anyone knew any sites that has good sales or trapping clearance? And if you've got some stuff to let go don't hesitate to PM me. Keep the free stuff for the first year guys though. Some guys (like me) likely wouldn't have gotten into this if it weren't for someone generous enough to give them a few things to start. God bless you all and thanks.

Good for you for finding success with beaver and coon. With time and learning success with other critters such as canines will come.

Kendall does make a quality trap. Save up and use the traps you have for now.

Just a little advice, more traps will equal more success for critters you know how to trap but more sets for critters you haven't figured out yet will just be wasting time. Concentrate on good sets on good locations and your catch rates will rise with the same amount of sets. Then try extending your line with more traps. Take care and good luck.

Sometimes the better times for finding traps is in the spring @ your local trappers supply after the main trapping season is over. Also try to hit some trappers conventions!

Did you go to the OSTA convention in Lima? there was some deals to be had there . We've got fall meets coming up over the next month and a half, Region A is sept 28, region B oct 12. Have to look when C is again. If youre on facebook and on the OSTA facebook group theres usually guys selling used traps there.

Check out conventions. You’re in luck if Dave’s there. Hit his table around 2 or 3 o’clock. He’ll have had a few by then, he gives away beer and wicked deals on stuff…..lol.
I wouldn’t cheap out on a BG trap, but with the copies made out there that might be changing.

If you are looking for specific brands, sizes types, it will not be easy to find those in the used market. At least not common or cheap. If you are looking for very specific types long term it may not be wrong to get some similar types so you can learn with those types. I don't know about convention in and around you but at our recent WTA that ended this weekend there were thousands of used traps and knew in the box all over.

I wish I could've gone, I was working and then went teal hunting with my buddy like a goofball.

I’m not sure if trapper arts still exists or not,,, he used to have tons of used traps. Art passed away some time ago and I don’t know if anyone still has the business or not

There's a glut of used traps on the market. If you are on Facebook, get on the Ohio State trappers association page and post what you're looking for. You'll find someone close that has someone all of what your looking for.
