Went up to Ashland WI about 18 years ago and I guess quite a few houndsmen would train hounds up there in the summers on the bears - wolves were getting in and shredding hounds.......not pretty. WS then had to go identify the wolf damage. First time in my life I saw a black bear. I was trapping with the local WS technician there and moving around culvert traps. Caught I think 4 bears that day and relocated them, set a few new traps, and ran a few wolf traps on the reservation for a study. Good days work.
2 of my dream hunts would be to see a bear up a tree with hounds under it and a mountain lion treed with dogs. I don't even need to shoot one - I just want to see some hounds tree them......that would make my day!
