I have a cap now, when I had an open bed I never covered them figured it is cheap advertising! Back in NY a few beaver in the back got me a lot of business! Cool! Lol I started water trapping initially in my 20’s. First thing I caught was a beaver. Then three more the next day! I had an old Buick Regal. That car was a tank, took me anywhere no matter how much snow. I used to put big “under the bed” storage totes in the trunk and take them into town for my grandma to see. She always said how proud pap woulda been of me! I still hope that is true

Hide mine, holdover habit from the fur boom I guess...Besides, if your not selling anything, why advertise?

Hide mine, holdover habit from the fur boom I guess...Besides, if your not selling anything, why advertise? ^^^^^100%. I'm likely to even hide stuff when hunting. 100% absolutely always covered when trapping. I could care less what the peta crowd has to say, think or feel but I have zero interest in advertising what I'm doing let alone potentially where I'm hunting/trapping to others that could be doing the same. There is way more downside here than upside to any public display.

My tuck has a topper on it so my catch and gear are always covered from the weather.

I covered only if anticipating rain on the 3hr drive home, not a problem if I had a shell on the bed. I never flaunted my KILLS, but I NEVER tried to hide them either. I have seen morons with a deer hung vertically off the back of a camper, swinging in the wind. They seriously needed an attitude adjustment!

I had an adult male bobcat killed by a car or truck on the road in front of my house last night. The Turkey or Black vultures haven't started feeding on it yet. It usually takes just a few days for them to find carcasses before they start feeding on them.

I don't advertise my catches or harvest. Could cause issues of sorts in the future. I generally trap in and around suburban areas and generally cover or hide my catches not because I am ashamed or fear what some Karan might say or do but because it cuts down on theft and curious people messing with my sets, even someone not meaning to steal a trap can mess up a set just out of curiosity of what I might be doing

I have a topper on my truck and it would be difficult to see into the bed unless I stopped and someone were to look into the side windows. I don't cover my catches and never had any issues.
Got a photo from a speeding camera in the mail. I immediately sent it back - way too expensive and really poor quality.

I never used to but I do now after a concerned walker half torn up fox in my catch box and called local sheriff about me mutilating animals. Took hours and half a dozen law endowment to question me until I could get a CO could clear me. I was going to salvage what I could of the fox since it was dead. It was damaged by snowmobiles who kindly ran over it while in the trap(three of them) and didn’t appear believable to any but the Co O because I was a “TRAPPER”.

Nope.
Went coyote hunting bout 10 years ago in Montana. It was an easy winter with not much snow. Took my car to save on gas. Had a great 3 days of calling. Don't remember how many I killed but..., it was a good trip. I had em all stacked on top and tied down for the 400 mile trip home on the roof top. Cruising down I_94, I got alot of honks by those passing me. 9 outta 10 were a thumbs up, other 10% were a middle finger. Lol.

When I was 15 years old I shot my first buck. It was a 115” 5x4 (9 point) and me and my Dad were pretty excited! My Dad was so happy that he wanted to put the buck on the roof of the van and go to town for breakfast.
I was nervous about the attention we were going to get, but no way am I telling my Dad no lol.
When we pulled up to the restaurant I could see the trucks and vehicles from other hunters and I was not liking the attention this buck on the roof was drawing!
Of course when we got inside there was a kid that I went to school with there with his Dad. Was a friend of mine for a bunch of years too. He asks me where I shot it and all that stuff. Ended up going to school and telling everyone I poached it. What a fat loser that guy was.
Anyways, this thread reminded me of that.
