A kid got dragged into the water and bitten and scratched up by an otter near Bremerton, Washington. Mom was able to save the kid who had actually been totally submerged by the otter.
Kind of surprising how aggressive they can be this time of year. I presume it was a mama with kits in the area.

I have had few run ins with trapped otter on land. Cannot imagine what they would be like unrestrained and in the water.

Haha, we drew straws to see who was gonna release one out of a cage trap on land. I drew the short straw and now have a serious respect for those critters!!! I honestly thought that joker was gone come through the trap before I could get it open!!

they are tough and lighting fast. in a relaxing lock snare with more cable than I liked I learned enough to not want to mess with them after our quota has been meet. boy that land owner was not happy to hear I let one go. He wanted it, the beaverk9s and rest of the nest predators gone. Told him season was closed on them he didn't care. Told him I'm following the law and won't set a bad example for my boys and he would just have to be happy with the rest of the varmint we removed.

boy otter are fast and flexible able to turn back on themselves . really neat critters. I prefer to find them.in a 330 though

See guys this is exactly the kind of stuff I’m talking about when I say I’m scared to put my hands in the water! Lol

I had an Otter swim up behind me once while I was setting a beaver trap at a bank den. I was facing shore when I heard something start cackling behind me. Turned around and an Otter was 5 yards away. Freaked me right out! Lol

Cut a large male loose from a beaver snare once in summer. Thought the rascal would realize it was free and run away from me once choke stick released......WRONG!

He chased me 75 yds thru the creek bottom b4 he turned away. He was right on my heels and bit my rubber knee boots. I've always wondered how aggressive it would've been if I'd stood my ground.....NOT!

I still crawl under houses all the time in ADC to chase them out in the winter,,,,, Tried it in the spring.
I was luck that I had a pistol....
