I put up a oneway door and attached trap over a chew in on the fascia. I caught one squirrel and went back today to check and had another on the side of the one way door trying to chew in. I setup a lethal tube trap next to it. Any other suggestions besides pellet gun?

Thanks

Keep the tubes clear. It sounds like you’re doing it right.

Chewers are usually adult females with young. Keep your traps close to the one way door for best results. Shouldn't take too long to get it.

You will run into chew in's by excluders often. That is why I rarely use them. Trapping structural squirrels is the best way to go in my experience. Remove the offenders from the area problem solved for the moment. Some get lazy and don't want to make the trips to check traps or the client will not check for you if that is an option.

Just think about it. If that is your established home at the time wouldn't you make an attempt to get back in? If it is a female with pups it is a guaranteed problem. Squirrels aren't bats. If a home is very solid with no other way or place to chew in, an excluder may be a option. If not, you better rethink your choice.

I have caught males suspected of chewing at times as stated.

I learned that gray squirrels will readily enter a 7”x7” live trap with one door. They like toast with peanut butter cut into 4 squares. Place one square just past the pan and come back in an hour. Works great on the back porch.

I'm kinda thinking...a nice comfortable lawn chair, an adult beverage, and a 20 gauge might be an option.

Unless it's in the city...then, never mind. laugh
