I remember sitting in a New Jersey wide-open harvested bean field looking at fox tracks one day 20 years ago, trying to figure out how to catch a fox in a wide-open area with a cable restraint. We can't use foot traps here, so cable was the only tool. I remember thinking about how the scented pole set worked for beavers. Then I thought about the post set for Fox, wishing I could use the post set with a foothold. I thought about how the fox worked a post set and realized the beaver works the scented pole snare set the same way. So I just put the two together with a cable restraint and had the fox in a day. That was the beginning of realizing that if I know where the feet are, I know where the head is.

Never would have taken that approach myself. Very interesting idea. I may just try something similar just for fun
Thanks for sharing.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Jonesie,,,,, Remind me to show you the August Heller coyote set when and if you ever come to Nebraska. He was an old German farmer in the 60's and 70's that caught coyotes for the fur and bounty. Tight lipped as a "snare" drum set and he did more observing than any guy I knew. I stumbled on to his method when the fur buyer let part of it slip in the 70's. I think you would like it. ................the mike

Yes. I remember years back. Pouring to tounquin musk on a weed. To call in predators to my dirt hole sets. It was winter.
The tracks in the snow showed the fox walk a complete circle hugging that weed like cats do when they walk by you on your leg.
But honestly I never put two and two together to hang snares. Good on you for the observation and putting it to practice. !!!!!!!!!
I have a new set )))))!!
