neighbor and I went out to the river and managed a few nice crappies

the 2 largest were 12 inches

picked up a few bass also nothing special with the bass they went back. as did the little northern and a bunch of smaller crappie

and the boat works well no leaks after the transom replacement

sonar and gps is all good

electric trolling motor is working well

just need some rod holders to help organize and keep the slip bobber line managed

she gets up on plain good and cruises at 19mph according to the gps not setting any speed records but it gets there

We had crappie last night that were spring-caught. What part of the lake were they hanging out? We catch them along the rocky dam in spring with minnows

bluff side of the river it is steep down to the waters edge with fallen timber no one clears because of the steep bluff.

Get up and go at 19 mph is good enough for that kind of fishing.

For rod holders in the boat why not use PVC.

the Amazon knock off Scotty's actually work quite well and lock the rod in and you can adjust angle up/down and about 330 degrees around
they are about 20-25 a pair
but the bases are slightly different between brands and the brands I bought 3 years ago aren't even options today that I can find

the actual Scotty's run about 23-25 each but that is an investment in drilling fewer holes in the boat to keep a single standard mount.
any direction any angle within a few degrees , run them up while cruising and in the right direction while fishing be able to change it up based on what fishing and how anchored
the scotty's also offer risers and 3 pack bases and allow the electronics to mount using the same base

if you keep a boat for several years , you end up with more and more holes every time you change tech or rigging

holes in boats are not really my favorite thing.

that is why I went to the transducer mounting plate that is why I want to standardize on one rod holder system with lots of options

aluminum boats last a long time , I can even fix rivets I have all the tools so unless I hit something the hull should be solid for years , I just rebuilt the transom that is a 1 day project now should it need to happen again.
