Everything is covered in dust here right now because of harvesting during the current drought. Diane, I, the cats and the dogs have all been sneezing. There's a dust haze in the air outside. Usually there's very little traffic on my street. Right now there's a grain truck going by around every 15 minutes.

Are you getting a decent yield? Good corn here but the beans didn't get enuf rain. Everything along rock roads here is covered with lime dust.

These are early beans,they are making between 45 and 60 the late beans are t gonna be good at all. Corn here wasn’t great either averaging around 185

Some corn was planted in April and we got 13" of rain in May. Elevators are already leveling off a place to pile it outside.

I'm always amazed at how long it takes to drive by those corn piles in a good year here. The total amount of corn harvested seems unreal, even though my area is full of corn, including a field across the street and most of my street.

You could level off a huge valley, if you filled it with corn.

Cheap corn should lower the price on thousands of products, but it doesn't anymore. The farmers just get less and the final sellers of all the products dependent on corn make more profit.

You’re right about that Keith. Funny how the chicken and pork companies can buy $8 corn one year and $4 corn the next, but the grocery store prices remain flat, not reflecting the difference.

Luckily we’re having good yields, because the price isn’t there. I wouldn’t mind selling cheap corn if I was able to see the trickle down effect in other products, but it’s just not there.

Yes who causes the inflation? I llbuy chocolate milk every week for our after church service meet and greets. A half gallon has been priced at $2,99 for over 2 years and the price of milk has ranged from about $17 per CWT to nearly $24, yet not a dime of change. The cost of the pastries have risen from $1.09 to $1.59 and the price of wheat to farmers has ranged from nearlly $8 per bushel to $5.50 or less. With the old farm bill still intact as it won't be passed anytime soon I don't recall the triggering numbers for corn, beans, wheat, sorghum etc. but I know locally at $3.55 per bushel that farmers will lose money raising corn this year.

If memory serves me right the government has different programs in place to help farmers if prices fall below
a certain price .

And isn't milk heavily subsidized by the Fed's?

Guys here just got started grinding yellow beans through and it rained today and I’m not sure if they’d be able to run tomorrow or Saturday then more rain, I ran in corn yesterday that was about 195 at 13.5 percent moisture.

First beans are coming off near us today and it looks like a fire behind the combine. We have been really dry here and the velvety soybean leaves collect all the dust blowing in the winds which have been from the south with all the heat the last 4-5 days. The dust really wears combines out fast. Beans cause more wear on combine head, chamber and auger equipment then high yielding corn does.
