Have been considering getting a safe but also keep asking myself why make it more difficult to get what you need in a hurry by keeping it locked up. Now hearing the electronic keypads AND dials fail, guess I'll keep on Keeping on.

I bought mine for peace of mind that they offer some fire protection.

I have nothing clever to put here.

you can get most of what your looking for by using a closet

a metal exterior entry door with dead bolt
then inside the closet you go 2-3 layers of cement board on the floor then plywood for a floor and 2 layers of 5/8 dry wall all around tape and mud

either is keeping unauthorized hands off them and buying time in a fire

a few 5# ABC fire extinguishers around the house is good also , if your home and have decent smoke detectors many fires can be put out before your wife is done making the 911 call

if your not home a total loss is a lot more likely

then you just leave out what you intend to leave loaded or in cruiser. (cruiser = mag full , chamber empty , the term comes from how shotguns were stored in police cruisers work the action and your in business.)

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I bought a Winchester safe at Tractor Supply a few years ago. Earlier this year the battery "died" and made the keypad start to beep. It takes a single 9v battery.

Went out and bought some Rayovac 9v. They didn't get the keypad working again, it was still beeping.

Looked all over online for trouble shooting and apparently only Duracell or Energizer would work properly in the keypad. So I went out and bought both of those brands. Still wouldn't power up the keypad, and still kept beeping.

Messed around with it for an hour or more, and finally out of frustration I (aggressively) rubbed the wire's connection hub against the battery and connected it to try one last time, and it worked. I will be sure to change the battery every year to hopefully prevent that from happening again.
