What traps do you use to catch moles?
Got one in the garden and can't get rid of the sucker.

I have used the Mole Eliminator with good results. Push the scissors in a fresh run and step down on the trap with your foot. That opens the scissors up for the mole to try and go thru and get caught.

Ive used the one with spikes that shoot down on top of them as they crawl through their tunnel. its really important to let the spikes push through the burrow a couple times on a dry run. That way when the mole sets it off the spikes arent slowed down by pushing through sod for the first time. Caught many of them that way, Im interested to see what others have done.

Victor out o sight . It was a learning experience! I had to take a big nail or spike to locate the tunnels and then dig a hole and place it in the tunnel. Dirt mounded under the trigger so when he dug, trigger flips ,the trap closes on him. My first mistake was not covering it all with a pot or a bucket. Once I did that, the light stayed out and he used his regular travel route.
Did this for my mom. It was the first time she commended me for trapping because it benefited her.
There were crazy breeding mounds all over her yard

I like victor oos or Steve Albano's trapline.

Definite learning curve with either but fortunately we've discussed moles in depth over on the ADC forum and much of that is saved in the archives.

I've been fighting moles. I had the traps with the spikes. I had limited success. I got the mole eliminator traps and caught a mole the first night. Took the trap to the woman's house and had a mole on the second night there.

I have had the death clutch gopher traps for years. Had very limited success with those. I had better luck with a 0 foothold. I had a gopher that I couldn't catch this year in a foothold. I had seen a video on YouTube for the death clutch trap when I was researching the mole eliminator traps. I used what I learned from watching that video and had it the first night. I've had more success with it but struck out recently. I set three at the woman's house and had all three plugged in less than three hours. It's been dry so it's not digging much and I haven't been over there so I'm ready for a rematch.

Good post , archives can definitely help someone with the learning curve.

I use No-Mols.

A good quote - " The most effective form of mole control is a trap in the hands of someone who knows how to use it "

I recomend WCS's video on moles by Alan Huot for those learning.

I got half a dozen mole reapers from Tony H who posts on the ADC forum. I'm using them in my own yard. As noted with others, there is a learning curve not only as to how to set them, but more importantly.....where. But once you get that figured out, they work really well.

Victor OOS.

Unfortunately they are about half the trap as they used to be. Someone must have got their fingers pinched in an older one, so they went to very weak springs for your safety. I have limited experience with the new ones as I have 30 of the old style. I am guessing if you aren't in heavy soil the new ones will suffice.

Mole Whacker is a great inexpensive trap. Built-in setters and strong springs with adjustable trigger. [Linked Image]

I’m an OOS guy, but slowly changing to the trapline products traps.

There is a learning curve for both like said before. The new victor OOS are not worth buying so only buy old stock cast iron ones not aluminum.

I spent all summer trying to get this one mole that was tearing up my lawn. Never did connect on him. Then the other day I saw him moving in his tunnel. I got the little bugger with a shovel

I use a gas blower and remove the mounds.
Then I pee on the newly removed clean out site,………

I even got mentioned in the video from the guy in WA State that had to pay 250g in fines for using bodygrip traps for moles

WCS sells a pretty good mole trap. It is styled after a OOS. Comes with a bit wider pan and has pretty good strong springs. It is cast iron like an old OOS. Might be a tiny bit narrower then a OOS as it fits my hand pretty tight when setting them.

I have both Victor OOS and Nash choker traps. I like the Nash the best as
I started with them and then made a tool to make the slits in the ground so I could just
slip them in. I caught 26 moles in my yard 1 year ago. The Victor OOS work but the
Nash I can set with my hands quickly.
