Just saw this. Kinda sorta neat ....I guess ? Idk it's hard for me to get too interested in rimfires.

It looks kinda like a real niche thing , guess for folks that need something a little bigger then a .17 but faster then a .22 ? And apparently it uses better bullets ... Maybe would be good for people.in non tox states or where they have the rimfire deal for predator hunting ? That or just something for the NRL rimfire comp guys ? There's also the ELR rimfire people... But as far as the average guy.... Meh

22lr is heel based. Looks like they just dropped diameter to eliminate the heel.

Agreed

Now if only someone would take on the 5mm magnum and get that one sorted out and brought back.

The 17hmr wasn't the answer. It only beats 22wmr in velocity/trajectory.

The 5mm hits harder and is faster than the 22wmr.

better buy enough ammon for life. it will not be around long I don't believe. like the 17 Mach 5 is hard to find ammo for. and bragging about 1.5" 50 yard groups and saying it's more accurate then .22 lr. guess they have never shot anything but bulk pack ammo.

Wish they would put more effort into producing 17WSM ammo, than creating a 21 Sharps.

Unfortunately, it's the 25gr I'm after.

I was in a quandry 5 years ago when I was looking at 17s. I had done a lot research and reading on both cartridges. The fella at cabelas was really pushing that WSM. At that time, there wasnt a dollars difference between a box of HMR and WSM ammo. I just wasnt confident at the time if WSM was gonna make it long term. Im glad I went with HMR. Ammo for the WSM has diminished and gone up in price if you can find it. Better load up heavy if you get the chance....

225 was a rimmed case for the 94 lever action. Not exactly your typical bull barreled bolt varmint gun and impossible to scope at the time.

Dead out of the gate as a 22-250 competitor.

Alot of stuff died because it seems companies just don't understand how to put the bits and bobs together.
I can hear it right now
We want this to be the new .22 -250!

Remington is an expert at killing cartridges in the cradle. Funny thing though is many are actually good cartridges.

Savage basically single handedly killed the 17 wsm with the inaccurate BMAG. Some of the first ones out of the gate sucked and word got out fast.

Killed a lot of coyotes with a model 70 225 back in the day. It is a good shooter. and zips out there just fine.

I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

Yes, Rem did great cartridge development work but were absolute masters of terrible marketing decisions.

The .21 Sharp looks like a solution in search of a problem.

I don’t think the 225 win was ever meant for the lever gun like the zipper was. If memory serves me correctly the pressure it generates takes it out of the model 94 option.

I have never seen a 94 chambered in 225. I have shot several M70’s in 225 and they were all good shooters and almost identical in performance to the 22-250. The biggest blow to the 225 was it was introduced in 1964 in the new M70 that everyone hated.

rem sure dropped the ball with the 6mm rem and 260 rem. had they been able to market then 243 and 6.5 Creedmoor would not be popular or would have ther been a need for.
