If this is advertising you can delete. Just wanted to let everyone know I am the new owner of Reeds Cabins in Salem Missouri. It would be a great place for a get together. We have 18 cabins mostly with 2 double beds. We don’t have any camping yet but there’s plenty down at Montauk State Park. If I could fill the cabins for a weekend for something trapping related I have a big area for tents. And you can go trout fishing.

Cool stuff! Congrats to you and your family. This sounds like a dynamite place for a trappers ed school or convention site?? Hope it works out and you make a million.

If you build it they will come. Too bad Carlis is gone- you could have Carlis and Cletus weekend in the fall as the spoonbill weekend is in the spring I think. If I'm backwards it wouldn't be the first time.

How far are you from Branson? Sat night entertainment could be the Petersens bluegrass music. Being in the Ozarks is incomplete with out some banjo.

Plenty of spectacular rivers down there, does it have canoe livery too? If not consider it.

I love that area. Southern MO was my preference of where I wanted out of the 3 states I wanted to buy my farm at. I love all the rock bottom creeks and there are so many springs. But I got such a smoking deal on my farm here and it's far enough away from work. I can't imagine what I was thinking when I thought 6 hrs would be OK.

We usually make a couple trips per summer/fall to Montauk. More if it works out.
Hopefully you can put in an RV spot or 2.
We usually stay at Happy Pappy's or Pinecrest. Both decent enough places, but I'd rather give my money to someone that's like minded.

Sorry I haven't been on here but it's been crazy busy(which is a great thing).
Jadwin canoe pretty much has the market on float trips.
It has 24 sites but they are annual spots.
We are planning on doing some RV spots as well in the future.
https://reedscabins.com/ is website
and if you're into Facebook we're on there as well https://www.facebook.com/ReedsCabins

It amazes me what folks will do with their campers there are places along the Missouri River that lease camping spots and storage units that are nowhere near anything scenic but they fill up and more are on the way. Camping/ Glamping even have their own stores for supplies. Built on porches, boat canopies storage sheds just like a 2nd home.

If you do it right they will come but if you get too big you might regret it then. Best of luck to you.

Well I'm hoping you didn't buy into a huge mess, I haven't been around there in years after art passed. Kelly was a hard one to be around sometimes, not super friendly but art was the one that kept up the place. I would stop by grab a soda every now and then, but I'll have to come look at your inventory I rather buy things from a like minded person than that greedy lodge.

I bookmarked your website. I enjoy visiting the Montauk MO area and surrounds. I mostly visit to canoe & kayak, but have done a bit of trout fishing also.
Wishing you the best of successes.
