Have a chance to pick up 50 of the Montgomery #2 square jaw dog on traps for a great price. I’ve only been around the #3 dogless Any reason these wouldn’t make a good coyote/bobcat trap?

Good traps, just be aware of the low lever issues but if you use the #3 then I'm sure you know.

Not as good as the newer round jaw Monts from the 80's but if you don't mind being a mechanic, they are solid. I prefer and use the dogless ones as the "Square Jaw" gives you a little more area than the round. Never (in 35 years) have I needed to base plate a 2 coil one but I do use the "center locators" sold by supply houses and don't weld just bend tight onto the center and cross frame with a hammer and punch. This is counter to every "big time" opinion but checking traps every or every other day has never showed a problem in those 35 years. Just get them tight. ..........My experience. ............................... the mike

The #2 Square jaw montgomery were my first coyote traps I got 12 years ago. They were great. I did have to put new springs on all of them as they were too weak when I bought them. Found that out the hard way.
