We had a hail storm hit our little area on Saturday. Lots of vehicles with dents.

My trail cam in backyard picked up the activity.

Then later this doe walks out. I blew up the pic from the trail cam pic so could show her body a little better. She appears to have a lot of bumps and welts on her. Deer are tough.

Here is my son’s car. My truck in background looks same, dents on every panel and door too.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Those on the deer look more like ticks to me.

Having witnessed baseball sized once I can't imagine being caught in the open like that doe. Amazing how critters cope with weather.

No doubt, I shot a buck once that had a broken off broadhead in his side.
Besides the broadhead there was about 6" of arrow shaft with it.

Back home on the river years ago we had a three legged doe in the area. Missing from the shoulder down. She got around good and I'd see her from time to time over several years. She even raised fawns.

I had a doe that would come to a feeder I had in the back yard at my first house that had a bad limp and a very white line of hair on that leg. I figured the white was a scar area. Always figured she had been hit by a car or someone made a bad shot. She seemed to do OK.

Amazing any critter could live through a hail storm being baseball size.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

I had multiple years of trail camera pictures of a 3-legged buck, and I saw him in person a few times while hunting. I saw him clear a new 5 wire barbrwire fence one time, he made it look easy. Skinned out a buck for a taxidermy mount one time that had a broadhead broke off and stuck in the skull just behind a ear. It had been there for quite some time.

Much same happened to me. I was heading home after a Beagle field trial, and was waiting for traffic to clear so I could pull out on the hwy, when I did, about a couple hndred yards along I saw a car on the side of the road that got pug nosed on a Deer. I stopped to help the kid, and gave him a ride to a phone to call home, and he offered me the carcass. When I was field dressing it, I found a broken off arrow up against the spine, all healed up and in a cyst.

I remember when I was a kid seeing the aftermath of a deer vs car accident.

Full sized Chevy wagon. Late 60's model year. The V8 got shoved about 1 foot into the passenger compartment. Minor injuries to the operator , car totaled. Lots of blood and fur left on the front of the car.

Deer fled the scene. I doubt it went far into the woods before dying , but it left under it's own power.

I was field dressing a buck and cut my hand while reaching inside to cut the windpipe. Thought maybe a broken bone cut me. Stuck my hand back inside and cut myself again. Found a Bear Razorhead and about three inches of an aluminum arrow. The deer had shown no signs of injury. Entry wound had healed over. The shaft was under the skin but outside of the ribs. The broadhead was inside of the ribs. Think it was a frontal shot.

Here's a doe that got her throat opened up, I imagine on a barbed wire fence. Despite the injury, she healed up and did just fine.
