To a gallon of what and for what use?

Wax is all wax in most cases unless I’m cleaning it then I add some water BEFORE it’s hot. Without more details it’s hard to say what might work the best for your need. Number and size of traps you’re waxing and container yourusing for the wax.

Wait, are you waxing traps, or are you waxing dirt?

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I think it depends on the dirt, but I like 10# wax to ~15 gallons of dirt. With that ratio my dirt is slightly “packy” and easy to bed solidly. Downside is you need to mix well while it cools, otherwise gets clumpy.
