Been trying to clean this skull for a European mount put it in the lake I was not impressed with the results the rack was getting lighter colored. So I moved it to a shady tree belt to let the bugs work on it some. Today I fired up the power washer to finish the job, that worked great I did need to trim around the base of the antlers a bit but the rest washed off with a little hard pressure.

I’ll get one of those hooks that go on the wall not a lot of places a guy can hang the thing.

You definitely don't want to trip into it.

Looks like you're ready to apply 40 volume peroxide and seal it afterwards

I would degrease it some first.

I’ll see if it sweats any but that pressure washer cleans it pretty deep once it dries I’ll glue the teeth in they seem loose might just get ahead of that.

We bury deer skulls and cover the antlers with a tub. Leave them a year. Ants do the hard work.

I started pressure washing my skulls also after boiling them and it makes quick work of them. I am very pleased with the results

If anyone does them within a week I can guarantee they stink. Had one done that quick and I had to put that joker outside for almost 3 weeks. I now pay a guy $30 and he does them right.

I guarantee you are wrong. Clean up the best ya can. Simmer(don't boil) bout 6 hours. Pressure wash and let dry. Brush with 40 volume and sit in the sun. No smell at all. [Linked Image]

You are correct Dan D.

I've done several skulls and the method you mentioned results in no odor. I even do one additional step...after it dries in the sun....I brush it with Mop&Glo (it's citrus scented)....leaves skull with a nice satin look and mild citrus odor).

Looks good. I just chain mine to a tree and leave it till next summer. Then pressure wash if I think it needs it. Depends on where it will hang.

I've been using the power washer for my deer and elk skulls and have been happy with it. Have to be careful around the teeth on a whitetail.. I have blown the jawbone open. I simmer mine for a couple hours with Dawn dish soap and oxiclean. Then power wash and most everything comes off. Sometimes I have to simmer them a second time. As far as using the 40 volume peroxide I found that if you get the thicker formula and dilute it with regular peroxide you can put it in a squirt bottle and spray the skull with it..squirt bottles are nice because you can get inside all the crevices, versus trying to brush it on.

Dan D said it correct. I do 10-12 a year for friends/family and use that same method. No stink. They can’t stink if there’s nothing left on them to stink , clean em thoroughly

How do you keep from blowing out the small bones in the nasal cavity when using the pressure washer?
