We haven't talked about it for some time. There used to be someone here on Tman that I believe has tent rentals??
Anyways he was the guru of treating tent and awning material.
I'm needing to put a coat of something on my boat cover before winter.
Wondering what happened to our canvas expert?
Anyone else recall who it was? Or have experience treating fabric boat covers?

You can treat it with linseed oil, way they used to make foul weather gear, but theres probably better stuff to use.

I came across this guy's video looking for something similar , it seems he may have made a better tin pants / water-resistant canvas recipe

Dissolve as much paraffin or beeswax in gasoline or alcohol as it will hold, and paint the canvas till it won't take anymore. When the solvent evaporates, the wax stays behind.

I own a canvas Business. It depends on the fabric it is made of. If it is top gun or Sunbrella you will want to use airspace 303 protection. If it is canvas they make a product for canvas tents I can’t recall the name at moment. But linseed oil will make a mess out of it .

Thanks Team V
I don't know exactly what material I'm dealing with but I know it's the Sunbrella type. Not the kind I would put the wax or oil type coating on. I was actually looking at and reading up on treatments. I seen the 303 product and figured I needed something along that line. I was thinking I wanted something I could roll or brush on. I can spray it if really need to. I think I could roll or brush it with cover on the boat without making a mess.

My understanding is canvas tin pants and canvas tents have very different treatments. Linseed oil on a tent would be a disaster. Most tents have some sort of “sunforger” i think treatment. It is meant to breath. Care is usually gently washing. Ive had a tent for 14 years with a sunforger treatment and never did anything to it. Still in great shape. It 7oz canvas too
