Beaver in drawn down ponds.

[Linked Image]

Example pond. This property has four, three are regularly drawn down like this. This time ahead of the coming storm as they also serve as retention ponds for the site. The third has a recently rebuilt two foot seawall all the way around.

Issues, one if I set the waterline it may weeks or months before the next draw down and two the draw down has exposed the dens as can be seen on the left.

It has also allowed me to walk the exposed mud to confirm no tracks. Though I know the beaver are still on site just bouncing pond to pond or creek. BTW, this one has a double three foot culvert inlet running several hundred yards underground to the next pond up and I know they use it.

I'm thinking floats.

Link 2 sections of drowning rod together with a couple of chain links. Push bottom end of bottom rod into mud, anchor top rod above high watermark. Install 2 x CS or LS traps to bottom rod as you would for any bank edge drowning setup. Lured stick right at water level.
If water rises, you can pull up the works by the top rod, remove bottom rod and reinstate the bank edge set at the new waterline.

If allowed, I might consider an underwater snare pole in front of each culvert opening.

Just happy to be here.

I'm surprised that overflow isn't packed tight with mud and crud.

Was thinking 330s but a long drowner cable looks nice too.

If they are using the pipe can’t you choke it down with some hardware cloth and snare or 330 the openings you leave?

Thought of that but no telling when the water would come down. Also several are currently more than ten from the current water line.
