Today I went fishing in the flambow River . When my boat was in the water it came off the hitch! then after I put it back on I backed up more and took the boat off. When out and I noticed more water in the boat ankle deep after awhile so I went back to shore.

I had the whole assembly the winch is on come off. Boat floated away a bit. Clamps at the bottom failed. Its welded now.

did you forget to put the plug in? Every one of us has done this at least once.

Yes .... That happened to me .... I got out in the lake and forgot to put in the drain plug.
It was back at the cabin on the table. Full throttle back to shore and on the trailer.
I got the drain plug in and all was good then ... No leaks !

I tied my drain plug to the stern with about 3 feet of braided trotline cord. Makes it easy to find. Just pull up the cord.

The moral of this is always have two drain plugs. One needs to stay in the boat. I recommend a zip tie to keep it in the same location, and never be removed from the boat.

The transom is new I fixed it last year. I'll explain it better the bottom of the transom and the bottom of the boat where the aluminum comes together that joint in slow leaking. So I have to turn the boat over to braze the joint.

Haven't had that happen but I picked up a nice little trailer Monday to haul my canoe and /or row boat, guy said 1 7/8" ball so I stopped at the parts and picked one up, Met the guy trailer went on nice and easy and brought it home from Great Falls, no problems at all. Went to unhook and for the life of me it will not come off the ball. It unlatches and but will not lift off. Looking under you can see a little yoke like thing that takes up the extra space but no go. So I just pulled the cotter pin and slid the whole hitch out. I'll put a jack on the trailer tongue to make it easier lining them up and do it that I guess. Reckon that's better than having it pop off the ball

had the trailer come off the ball

I had driven down the bluff

had crossed 4 set of rail road tracks , then hit a pothole that popped the boat of , my tailgate has the little snake bites as evidence , I wasn't going but maybe 15mph at the time so not much damage.

now I try to remember to not trust any trailer and pull up on the hitch to make sure it latched tight.

I haven't launched plug out , but I know a lot of people have and I have seen it several times.

when I pull the plug I clip the kill switch lanyard to it , but he trot line is a good idea

if you can to both sides of that you can rivet in a patch fairly easy.

box of rivets a drill , air chisel , bit , good size hammer and some marine epoxy
