I have been reloading for several rifles for about 15 years, but I'm definalty still a novice. I have (2, new to me) .243 rifles that I need to buy a set of Dies for.

All of my current dies are the Redding 2 Die Set, it will be $68.02 for the .243 here is the midway link:

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/101244296?pid=267494

But the RCBS 2 Die Set will only cost $35.56, here is the midway link:

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1011278027?pid=210551

Are the Redding Dies really worth the extra $33? Does anyone have much experience with the RCBS 2 Die Sets?

Thanks!

I’m not an expert but have reloaded for all my riffles and handguns. I use RCBS dies and Hornady dies. I don’t see any difference between them as far as how they work I also have .40 cal Lee dies. I’m using a RCBS press.

So as someone who was lee RCBS and Redding ( mostly lee) I gotta say the Redding is on a different level! There jus rebuild way better , heck just the dang lock ring they have made me fall in love with them .

But my only readings are a custom set for my 17-5.56 and they where $150. But , now that there locked down and adjusted it's no real re measuring and adjusting like my others .

Personally I don't like the RCBS dies, just the way there set up I find annoying at least the ones I have because they let you do the crimp while you seat ....and since I don't crimp sick
. honestly though if your not trying to shoot like super crazy small stuff like 1/2 moa or less....meeehh I say past fit and finish/user friendliness you won't see a tone of difference

I use both. Never had an issue if kept clean and not abused.

Redding dies are definitely higher quality than the RCBS. I once had a set of RCBS Dies, they produced so much run out that the group size was horrible. You could roll a completed cartridge on a plane Of glass and watch the bullet tip wobble, swabbed them out for another set of RCBS And groups shrunk by 2/3

if you want to get really high-quality loading dies look into Forrester Bonanza benchrest you can buy more expensive and higher precision dies than the forester, but the average serious hunters/shooter would not be able to utilize the increased precision

I have been using RCBS, Forster and Redding for over 30 years. No problems or issues with either.

A friend of mine uses a lot of Lee dies with no issues.

Unless you're commercially producing ammo any of the 4 will do great.

More of a matter of personal likes. Just like driving a Chevy, Ford or Dodge

I reload for 40 some different calibers. Mostly rifle but some pistol, lots of RCBS and Lee dies. Got a few Redding, Hornady, Lynn and so on. I got the cheap Lee 243 several years ago from Midway Realy Great Buy or something like that. They work great in my opinion, my kids and my buddies son have shot a bunch of deer, antelope, and prairie dogs with ammo from those dies. Personally I’d buy Lee or RCBS and save a few bucks for bullets or primers. My 2 cents
